Jody had a safe TV production job at CNN. Secure, but not creative. Then Nancy Grace needed a theme song. He wrote it, they used it, and on his drive west after quitting, his first ASCAP check arrived: $30,000.

He bet on himself, started HD Music Now and built a licensing career from scratch. In four years he went from $13K to over $100K a year. Today he's the music supervisor for The Bachelor franchise and has built labels and publishing companies that serve networks, agencies and studios every day.

From bedroom guitarist
to thousands of placements.

For years Michael worked as hard as anyone and still couldn't pay the bills. Then in 2004 one of his songs landed in Cold Case on CBS, and he saw how powerful music licensing could be.

Since then his music has run through hit TV shows, blockbuster trailers and national commercials. He started Master Music Licensing in 2018 because there was plenty of information on what sync is, and almost none on how to actually do it.

Wins first prize in the company talent competition. The next day he is in the president’s office.

The first big break

True Blood

First placement, in True Blood season 2 with Gary Calamar. Music supervises his first film, Don’t Fade Away. And Michael sends his CD to HD Music Now. Jody signs it.

Lands his first trailer and first ad placements. His licensing business passes $1 million.
